About Vet Compliance HQ

Vet Compliance HQ builds practical compliance systems for U.S. veterinary practices, starting with the area that carries the sharpest risk: controlled substances and DEA recordkeeping.

Why we exist

Nearly every veterinary practice that performs surgery, anesthesia, or euthanasia holds a DEA registration and handles controlled substances. Yet the rules — recordkeeping, inventory, storage, reporting — are scattered across federal regulation and state requirements, and the practice owner carries the exposure personally. Most practices run on informal habits and good intentions, and discover the gaps only when an inspector does. We exist to help close that gap before it matters.

Our approach

Every template, checklist, and procedure we publish is built from primary sources — the Controlled Substances Act, 21 CFR, and DEA guidance — and written specifically for how a veterinary practice operates. We focus on the operational and regulatory side of compliance, not clinical medicine, and we keep our materials current as guidance changes.

What we are — and what we're not

We are an independent educational resource and a maker of practical compliance tools. We are not a law firm, not a government agency, and not affiliated with the DEA or any accrediting body. Our materials help a practice organize and document a real compliance program — they make a practice defensible and inspection-ready, but they are not legal advice and not a guarantee. We will always tell you to verify against current DEA and state requirements. That honesty is part of what we offer.
